How long is a SIM only contract?
SIM-only deals tend to be more flexible than phone contracts and usually are for a period of 30 days, 12 months, 24 months or 36 months.
Because you’re not paying for the costs associated with the physical device, they’re also usually much cheaper.
It’s worth checking on the offers you can get depending on how much you have as a budget, and how long of a contract you’re willing to sign up for.
Can I use any handset on a SIM only contract?
Most phones sold in the last two or three years are unlocked, but if your business phone is locked to a particular network provider then you’ll only be able to use a SIM card from that provider in the handset until you ask them to unlock it.
The good news is you can easily get it unlocked by the current network if you want to keep your current phone but change to a new provider, either call them or visit their website as its usually on there how to unlock a device. if in doubt get in touch as we can help.
If you already have an unlocked business phone or are staying with your current contract provider then yes, you’ll simply be able to put the new SIM card in your existing phone and it will work straight away.
Can I keep the same phone number on a SIM only contract
Yes.
If you stay with the same provider and upgrade your current account to a sim only plan you’ll keep your existing phone number on your new contract.
If you switch network providers for your new SIM-only deal, then you can still keep your existing number with a PAC code.
You will need to get a PAC (Porting Authorisation Code) from your existing provider to give to your new provider so they can transfer your phone number to the new SIM card.
Getting a PAC is free and easy, ask us how.
Why would I get a SIM only contract?
If you don’t need a new phone you could save money by switching to a SIM only contract for your business phone.
If you remain on the same phone deal at the end of your phone contract, you’re still paying costs associated with the handset.
We recommend in that instance changing to a SIM-only deal as you only pay for the minutes, texts and data airtime plan, so the price is generally lower.
If you wanted to keep paying around the same price you’d be able to increase your data allowance, as well as minutes and texts.
Otherwise, you could receive the same minutes, texts and data as your current contract, but for less money.
